PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This effort investigated flooding problems and evaluated potential solutions to flooding problems to reduce the risk of flooding for as many as 62 homes in the city of La Porte’s Brookglen area. It was completed in January 2020. The analysis explored the feasibility of constructing channel conveyance improvements, bridge replacements and stormwater detention along Willow Springs Bayou, Unit B112-00-00. The analysis investigated the potential benefits of multiple project scenarios. Results included a recommended plan that establishes the need for future property acquisition and provides a basis for preparing a preliminary engineering report. The analysis determined the need for local drainage improvements to effectively support any flood control project, because of the neighborhood’s ‘bowl’-shaped topography.
