October 27, 2020 - Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the purchase of eight tracts of land in support of this project.

August 11, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $90,760 for construction of this project.

June 30, 2020 - Harris County Commissioners Court acknowledged substantial completion of Bond ID C-14, White Oak Bayou federal flood control project, Discrete Segment 01A for the Fairbanks North Houston detention basin.

June 25, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $5,850 for this project.

February 26, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the purchase of wetlands mitigation credits from the Greens Bayou Wetlands Mitigation Bank in support of this project.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Fairbanks-North Houston Detention Basin, (HCFCD Unit E500-01-00-E001) project consists of excavating approximately 552,000 Cubic Yards of material with off-site disposal; removing and replacing of typical backslope interceptor structures and associated piping, grading of backslope swales, installation of concrete headwall and boxes, and slope paving. This project will provide approximately 230 acre-feet, or more than 74.9 million gallons, of additional storage in the basin, and is the final phase of the detention basin.

Location

East of Fairbanks North Houston, just North of White Oak Bayou.

This stormwater detention basin is a portion of bond project C-14, Design and Construction of White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction Program, a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is designated by the Corps as Discrete Segment 01A.
