Recent Action

June 9, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized an additional $1,349,051.52 for construction stage engineering services for this project as part of Discrete Segment 110, from Brays Bayou upstream of South Rice to upstream of Fondren in the Brays Bayou Watershed.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Harris County Flood Control District is constructing a stormwater detention basin located at Willow Waterhole Bayou upstream of South Post Oak Road to reduce the risk of flooding in the vicinity of the basin. The new basin will hold approximately 17.6 acre-feet (nearly 5.7 million gallons) of stormwater during heavy rain events. The project is expected to take three months to complete.

To date, the Flood Control District has made more than $400 million in improvements in the Brays Bayou watershed – primarily through Project Brays, a cooperative effort between the Flood Control District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
