June 30, 2020 - Harris County Commissioners Court acknowledged substantial completion of Bond ID F-40, the Lower Greens Bayou regional detention embankment and control structure project.

March 24, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $35,193 for construction of this project.

February 25, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $27,624 for construction of this project. 

November 12, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $30,237 for construction of this project.

September 24, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized a $142,845 contract amendment with an engineer firm in support of this project.

January 29, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved a $92,921 agreement with an engineering firm for materials engineering and testing services in support of this project.

December 4, 2018 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved a $2.4 million contract for construction of this project.

August 28, 2018 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized negotiations with an engineering firm to conduct materials engineering and testing services in support of this project.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project made repairs and enhancements to the Lower Greens Bayou regional detention embankment and made control structure improvements. The project, formally known as HCFCD Unit P500-01-00, is located west of the Sam Houston Tollway, between Tidwell Road to the south and E. Mount Houston Road to the north.

This project was acknowledged as substantially complete by the Harris County Commissioners Court in June 2020.

Stormwater detention basins reduce flooding risks and damages during heavy rain events by safely storing excess stormwater and slowly releasing it back to the bayou when the threat of flooding has passed.
