December 14, 2021 - The Flood Control District transmitted a preliminary engineering report dated October 2021 for this project.

July 20, 2021 - Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the Flood Control District to purchase a tract of land in support of this project.

January 5, 2021 - Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the acquisition of 19 tracts in support of this project.

May 19, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved updates to project details in the 2018 Bond Program List. Update changes funding to amount secured from NRCS Pilot Program. 

October 8, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the Flood Control District to accept a $28 million U.S. Department of Agriculture grant for the Emergency Watershed Protection Pilot Program that includes funds for this and other projects

September 24, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized and initiated this project

Project description

This project is expected to provide stormwater storage in the Arbor Oaks & Greater Inwood neighborhoods in the White Oak Bayou watershed. The Flood Control District intends to build a stormwater detention basin on property it owns south of Victory Drive, near the confluence of White Oak Bayou, HCFCD Unit E100-00-00, and its Tributary, Vogel Creek E121-00-00 using a $10.8 million grant from the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The Arbor Oaks Stormwater Detention Basin is expected to provide 140 million gallons of stormwater storage. Additional property will be acquired as part of this project.

We are currently in the DESIGN stage.
