PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Flood Control District is taking a watershed-wide approach to executing flood risk reduction projects in the Cypress Creek watershed. The Cypress Creek Implementation Program provides a holistic view of activity in the watershed and enables the Flood Control District to deliver projects strategically and efficiently in a heavily developed area. Projects will include stormwater detention basins, channel improvements on various Cypress Creek tributaries, and right-of-way acquisition for floodplain preservation.

The program will address the implementation of project recommendations from the Regional Drainage Plan and Environmental Investigation for Major Tributaries in the Cypress Creek Watershed (Bond ID CI-035), which was completed in 2020. The program also will consider other ongoing or planned projects in the watershed.
