HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT ENHANCES FLOOD WARNING SYSTEM WEBSITE WITH CUSTOMIZABLE ALERTS

Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) has enhanced the Flood Warning System website www.harriscountyfws.org to provide residents of Harris and surrounding counties the ability to sign up and receive automated water level and rainfall alerts delivered via text message, email, or both. Sign up directly at www.FWSalerts.org to create your account which allows you the ability to sign up for notifications at over 250 gage locations across the region including Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Galveston, and Waller Counties, City of Mont Belvieu, City of Sugar Land, and The Woodlands, and the San Jacinto River Authority.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT LAUNCHES NEW PROJECT WEBSITE

The Harris County Flood Control District has launched a new website to support its partnership project with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The website, http://www.maapnext.org, will support the MAAPnext project, a Modeling, Assessment and Awareness Project (MAAP), that will produce the next generation of flood hazard maps for Harris County.

HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT AND U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS SIGN AGREEMENT FOR CLEAR CREEK FEDERAL FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT PROJECT

The Harris County Flood Control District and one of its federal partners, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (USACE), signed a new Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) for the design and construction of the Clear Creek Federal Flood Risk Management Project. The $295 million project will substantially reduce flood risks for a large portion of the Clear Creek Watershed in Harris, Brazoria and Galveston counties.
