BAYOUS AND CREEKS UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 27 1:30 AM

The Harris County Flood Control District's Flood Operations team continues to monitor this extremely dangerous and life-threatening flash flood event still in progress over much of southeast Harris County. Rainfall across Harris County has continued to intensify, with rainfall totals in the last three to six hours that have greatly exceeded our 500-year rainfall levels.

BAYOUS AND CREEKS UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 26 - 2 PM

The Harris County Flood Control District's Flood Operations team is actively monitoring rainfall trends, as well as measured rainfall amounts and water levels in bayous and creeks. Rainfall amounts have averaged four to five inches in the last 12 hours across Harris County. The break in the rain is helping area channels recede. Average rainfall in the last three hours is less than one inch in Harris County.

HURRICANE HARVEY MAKES LANDFALL ON TEXAS COAST; HARRIS COUNTY OFFICIALS MONITORING RAINFALL

Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas Friday evening as a Category 4 storm with winds around 130 mph. Hurricane Harvey has weakened after making landfall and is now a Category 1 storm. Harris County officials are monitoring the situation as rain bands move into west and southwest Harris County.
