Construction Complete on The Little York & Hopper Stormwater Detention Basins

The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of Bond Project C-35, which includes a pair of stormwater detention basins, the Little York and Hopper stormwater detention basins, and channel conveyance improvements to Tributary P118-14-00. Together, the Little York Stormwater Detention Basin, located between U.S. 59 and Hirsch Road, and the Hopper Stormwater Detention Basin, located between Langley Road and Hopper Road, were constructed to hold nearly 65 million gallons of stormwater, which is equivalent to 98 Olympic-size swimming pools. To improve channel conveyance on Tributary P118-14-00, two additional 12’x10’ box culverts, structures that carry water under the road and into the tributary, were installed below Little York Road.

The Harris County Flood Control District to Receive Nearly $250 Million In Federal Funds for Sediment Removal

The Harris County Flood Control District is pleased to announce an award of nearly $250 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to remove accumulated sediment in channels, creeks and bayous across eight watersheds. The sediment to be removed from the Willow Creek, White Oak Bayou, Spring Creek, Little Cypress Creek, Greens Bayou, Cypress Creek, Barker Reservoir and Addicks Reservoir Watersheds was deposited during flooding from Hurricane Harvey.
