August 24, 2021 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized a $867,032 agreement for preliminary engineering services in support of this project.

April 28, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized and initiated a project from the 2018 Bond Program that provides funding for design and construction of general drainage improvements in the Willow Creek watershed.

May 11, 2021 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the Flood Control District to negotiate an agreement to provide preliminary engineering and design services in support of this project.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involves the preliminary engineering, design and construction of a stormwater detention basin in the drainage area of Willow Creek Tributary M120-00-00. The Boudreaux Stormwater Detention Basin, tentatively named after a nearby road, is formally identified as HCFCD Unit M500-10-00. This project – along with others – was recommended by the Willow Creek Watershed Planning Study to reduce flooding risks in the watershed. Further engineering investigation will provide information to help establish the boundaries of the basin project, as well as help guide its ultimate design. Stormwater detention basins take in and temporarily store excess stormwater to reduce flooding risks.

The Boudreaux project will receive funding from 2018 HCFCD Bond ID F-106. In addition, Bond ID F-36 will provide funding for necessary property acquisition for this and other watershed projects.
