Flood Control District Completes First Phase of Aldine Westfield Stormwater Detention Basin

The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of Phase 1 of the Aldine Westfield Stormwater Detention Basin, located south of Greens Road and north of Beltway 8, just off Aldine Westfield Road in the Greens Bayou Watershed. The $6.94 million construction contract was funded through the Flood Control District’s Capital Improvements Program and the 2018 Bond Program.

Construction Update for Chimney Rock & S. Rice Bridges

As part of the Chimney Rock and South Rice Bridge construction projects, both northbound and southbound lanes across both bridges will be reduced from two lanes down to one lane between North Braeswood and South Braeswood Boulevards, but the dedicated left turn lanes on the bridges will remain available. The lane reductions on the bridges will occur this week. Additionally, in the coming weeks, the lanes will also be reduced on North Braeswood and South Braeswood Boulevards from two lanes down to one lane at both Chimney Rock Road and South Rice Avenue.

The South 75th Street bridge over Brays Bayou is scheduled to close to traffic and pedestrians beginning Monday, April 19th. The bridge closure is part of the construction project to demolish and replace the current bridge with a higher, longer and wider bridge.
